Work From Home Ideas For Moms

Working from home and tending to children may not be an ideal match - at least if you really want to get some work done, project a professional appearance to clients and customers, AND keep your children entertained. It's tough. Just ask any mom in this situaton. But it can be done, and with great success. The secret is to involve your kids in your endeavor. Not only will you be making money, but you will teach your kids the value of work and respect. So, you ask, what are some work from home ideas for moms that involve the little ones? Read on...you may read some ideas that interest you.

1) Craft Classes: If you are good at a particular craft, why not share your knowledge with others? Kids of all ages love crafts so it should be easy to have them participate, too. But is there a market for this as a home business? You bet! Especially in the summer months. Post notices advertising your crafting class on your church's bulletin board and see how that goes. Perhaps you can have a children's only craft class once a month.

2) Tutoring: If you love to teach then share what you know - to students of all ages.

3) Cooking Services: So many evenings I dread the thought of having to prepare a meal. I personally dislike cooking, but I can't afford the expense of eating out every night. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with my sentiments towards cooking. If you enjoy cooking, then start a work from home business preparing meals for others. Perhaps outline a weekly menu and shopping list in addition to a meal or two.

4) Computer Safety: This is a great work from home idea for moms if you are tech savvy. Share your knowledge by providing computer safety classes teaching parents how to keep their kids safe while on the computer. With so many households requiring both parents to work outside the home, who's watching what the kids are doing on the computer? Although there are many products available to block questionable websites, etc. parents need to know how to successfully activate these products...that's where you come in.

5) Before & After School Babysitting: This isn't just for the 14 year old neighbor girl. Babysitting is a great opportunity to make extra money, especially if you have children of your own. You're tending to your kids, so why not add a few neighborhood kids? Even if for an hour or so before or after the kids catch or depart the the school bus. Just be sure to check your local rules and regulations about tending to children - babysitting more than a specific amount of children may be considered daycare and special licensing may be required.

6) Day-camp: This work from home idea for moms is similar to babysitting, but with a twist. You provide children with adventures and/or crafts on a topic you enjoy yourself. You teach and the child learns. Do you like to camp? Offer a week long day-camp class on camping - teaching the little ones how to set up a tent, tie knots, follow hiking trails. Other activities can be taught by other adults.

7) Freelance Work: There are many online freelance sites out there where you can "bid" on a job and work at home at your pace. Basically, you browse the database of these sites seeking a job in the area that interests you and contact the job poster with your experience and fee. This is all done online, so no fear of your children interrupting while you are on the phone. Some of my favorite freelance sites: elance.com, guru.com, freelancer.com

8) Pet Services: This work from home idea for moms who love animals can be a great learning lesson for your kids. Pet sitting, dog walking and pet grooming are services that are in high demand.

9) Theme Party Planner: Theme parties for adults as well as children are a growing trend. If you're good at planning parties, then express your ideas through themes. Include your children when planning theme parties for other kids.

10) Children's Fitness: If you have a large yard, and some typical gym equipment, consider starting a small business teaching children the importance of fitness. Get them out there romping around on the gym equipment. Develop fitness plans for kids of all ages

If these ideas aren't your cup-of-tea, perhaps they spark and idea that suits your personal situation. Either way, there are plenty of opportunities for you.

I am always looking for ideas to use to work from home. Great hub and information. You could actually do more than one of your ideas at a time.

Thanks so much for reading. I appreciate the visit. You're absolutely correct - you CAN do more than one of these at a time: pet services during the day and after-school babysitting for example.

Excellent work lewgard. I mostly write whimsical nonsense so don't bother following me. I did write something similar to this though. That's why I am reading and voting this up.

All very good ideas. For ahile I babysat and made pretty decent money. Of course that was when I still had my own children at home.
